Community

Often called The Blues Capital of Texas, Navasota is a thriving community in the rolling hills of Texas. The region is rich with all the things that make life enjoyable - a welcoming and supportive community, good schools and healthcare, and a thriving business environment.
Nature has looked kindly on this part of Texas, which has abundant wildlife, green pastures, a variety of trees and flowers, lakes and rivers.
Navasota is in Grimes County, which has a population of 23,000. The county boasts a low crime rate, low taxes and clean air. Artists and musicians have long been drawn to this region of the country. Nationally-acclaimed artists Russell Cushman and Peggy Green call the area home.
In downtown Navasota, restaurants, shops and galleries in classic stone and brick structures can be found in the picturesque Navasota Historical District. The neighborhood has beautiful 19th-century architecture. Local attractions include wineries, museums, live theater, restaurants and even a living history farm.
Best of all, our close proximity to Houston makes the community easily accessible. Navasota Municipal Airport can handle small jets. The runway is currently being expanded to handle large jets in the future.
The community has year-round activities, including the Texas Renaissance Festival and Navasota Blues Festival. Every Saturday, there is a farmer's market downtown. For more information on events, see Navasota, Texas Events.
